ABOUT THE BOOK

A Life Through Distorted Eyes

A Life Felt through Poetry, the Pain Game that Distorted the Brain Won’t You Join Me on a Journey?

She cries like the water flows
She dies as the wind blows
As she’s parting from this world
She feels nothing just a mindless whirl
Who it is she might see

Cassandra Mietzel understands life can be challenging, and that sometimes it takes a series of unfortunate events to motivate us to find the strength within to break free of the cycles that we create and that surround us.

In a volume of moving poetry, Mietzel, who was diagnosed with depression and OCD in her early teens, explores the young mind as it develops while navigating heartache, suicide contemplations, and social stigmas, all while under the influence of pharmaceutical drugs. Shared with the intent of showing the pain where healing begins and providing tools to help others navigate their own journeys, Mietzel provides a comforting, lyrical place that invites anyone who may be suffering to reclaim their truth and love the pain away.

A Life through Distorted Eyes is a collection of poems that reflects on a young woman’s experiences and mind as she bravely faces her inner baggage and pain and begins a journey to emotional healing.
